How it works

From QR scan to first sip.
No queue. No mix-ups. No chaos.

See the full journey — from a customer sitting down and scanning the code on the table, to the coffee landing in front of them — in seven simple steps. It works exactly the same for takeaway orders placed on the walk over.

1At the table

They sit down, spot your QR code and scan it

Your CoffeesUp QR code lives wherever your customers are — a tent card on every table, a sticker on the window, a card on the outside tables on the pavement. They point their phone camera at it. That's it. No app to download, no account to create. Your full drinks menu opens instantly in their browser. Takeaway customers get the same page from your link, tapped on the walk over.

2Ordering

They build their drink exactly how they like it

Espresso, filter, cold brew, matcha, cake, brunch — with photos, descriptions and prices, right there on their phone. Oat or almond, decaf, an extra shot, hazelnut syrup, extra hot, small or large: they tap every option themselves, with or without a price uplift. Nothing gets misheard over the grinder, and nobody has to catch anyone's eye to order.

3Payment

They pay there and then — card, phone, or Apple Pay

When the basket's ready, they pay securely from their seat or from the pavement outside. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay — whatever they've got, through SumUp, PayPal or Stripe, confirmed in seconds. No reaching across the counter for the card machine, no £2.80 contactless dance, no walkouts — every coffee is paid for before the barista starts it.

4Behind the counter

It lands on the barista screen instantly

The moment payment clears, the order hits your barista screen — a large, colour-coded display showing every live order in the order it was placed. Table number on sit-in orders, collection time on takeaways, every milk and syrup spelled out in full, and a timer showing how long it's been waiting. No paper tickets curling on the machine, no cups scrawled in marker, no arguments about who was next.

Bonus feature

Put a collection screen above the hatch

As well as the barista screen for your team, CoffeesUp includes a public-facing display you can open on any spare screen — a tablet, a monitor, an old TV. Mount it above the collection point so everyone can see their name move from making to ready without asking. No login required, no shouting “flat white for Dave” over the steam wand, and no crowd hovering at the hatch. Run as many screens as you like.

5Status updates

One tap moves the order down the bar

As the barista works through it, a single tap moves the order along — Received, Being Made, Almost Ready, Ready. The customer watches the status change live on their phone, whether they're at table six or still two streets away. Nobody has to shout a name over the grinder, and nobody stands at the counter asking how long it'll be.

6Customer notified

Their phone buzzes the moment it's ready

When you mark an order Ready, two things happen automatically: the live status page updates instantly in their browser, and an email lands on their phone. No app needed, no account to log in to. Takeaway customers know exactly when to walk in — so they arrive as the coffee hits the hatch instead of standing there watching it go cold.

7First sip

Carried to the table — or picked up and gone

For sit-in, your team walks the drinks straight to the table number on the ticket. For takeaway, the customer walks in when their phone says ready, picks it up and leaves. Either way it was already paid for, it was exactly what they tapped, and nobody stood in a queue. They get on with their day. You get on with the next cup.

Seven steps, and only one of them
involves your barista.

The result

A café counter with no queue forming

No queue

Sit-in customers order from their seat, takeaway customers order on the walk in. Nobody stacks up at the counter.

Paid up front

Every coffee is paid for before the barista starts it. No chasing, no walkouts, every sale recorded automatically.

Regulars who return

They ordered at their own pace, got exactly the milk they asked for, and knew when it was coming. That brings them back tomorrow.
